Bad Singlish

Most of the time, we speak singlish. It is a habit that we learn from young. If you ask me to speak proper english, it is a problem for me. I must have that lah , lor, hor all this singlish. Sometimes I just wonder do we acutally know the meaning of these words?

My most common use is Na beh or Fxck or Shit.

What is the true meaning of each word for all these singlish bad words:

Carry balls (That is what we always do in the office, we even think of making a throphy with three finger carry balls (genitalia) to give it to my boss! and we are good at it especially the three of us shining sisters.

LPPL - Lan pa pa Lan, hokkien acronym. LPPL , now it is like me, my two girls are on medical leave so I have to do all the work by myself, So I LPPL, LP is balls , PL is the same word read backwards , the balls hitting against each other. Too bad I dont have LP.

Na Beh- Local slang adapted from a hokkein phrase about someone's else's mother, it is vulgar. Used as an utterance in anger.

Sell backside - Broken english for prostituting oneself. I always say if no money need to go and sell backside. But I thought only guys sell backside. Girls can sell "both". But joking only, I wont do such thing.

Talk Cock - Office, alot of people talk cock, especially the boss. Talk talk talk, take the credit. Let the staff die. It actually means talking rubbish. A person who talk so much crap, he might as well be talking to his own genitalia.

KNS - Classic slang that combines Malay (kena, or get) and Hokkein (sai, or shit). Used to describe the laugable, irredeemable failure of someone or something.

Chee Hong - Hokkein slang for a guy who's so crazy about chasing skirts that he would turn his back on his friend. Sigh I think a lot of guys are like that.

Fish do not close their eyelids; Do they sleep?

Fish dont have eyelid, if not they will have eye lashes, then they can put on mascara!! Do fish sleep? Yeah they do.

Most fish spend part of every day asleep. Being asleep can mean different things to different fish. Some fish (like herring and tuna) are motionless in the water during the night. Other fish, like rockfish and grouper, don't appear to sleep at all. They rest against rocks, bracing themselves with their fins. Because of the nature of their eye (lacking an eyelid), they do not 'close' their eyes when they are sleeping.

Lucky I have eyelid, if not it is tiring to always open my eyes.

Anyway, Singapore are not allow to chew gum except for those who wanted to quit smoking and buy from pharmacy. Not able to chew gum have it's good and bad. Good is that can clear the mouth bad breath. Bad is that there are some idiots who just spit out their gum wherever they want to and gum stick onto shoe or clothing and difficult to remove.

Why do mosquito bites itch?

When the mosquito stabs her needle-like mouthparts through the skin of her victim, she injects her saliva (yucks mosquito saliva! how come I didnt feel wet wet?) teeming with digestive enzymes and anticoagulants. The first time a person is bitten, there is no reaction. With subsequent bites, the person becomes sensitized to the foreign proteins, and small, itchy,red bump appear about 24 hours later. Wow, so I was biten 24 hours later then I feel the itch!

After many more bites, a pale, swollen hive, or wheal, begins to appear within minutes after a bite -- followed by the red bump 24 hours later.

So how to avoid being bitten?

• Mosquitoes are attracted to things that remind them of nectar or mammal flesh. When outdoors, wear light clothing that covers most of the body, keeping as much skin and hair covered as practical. Avoid bright, floral colors. Khaki, beige, and olive have no particular attraction for mosquitoes.
• They are also attracted by some body odors, and for this reason they choose some individuals over others in a crowd. Avoid fragrances in soaps, shampoos, and lotions. (Then no need to bath already just smell like rubbish chute)
• Avoid playing outdoors during the peak biting times in your area.
• Try to stay away from still water.

Even when at home I could be bitten anytime without my knowledge. I think I will go back to Venus if I have too many mosquito bites.

How come Mozart, beethoven and Puccini have such power in their music? When I listen to it. I dont feel anything. Maybe my music cells are dead. So next time, will play Mozart, beethoven or Puccini while mating offspring? Sound like I am animal. I wonder long long..

Why Yawn?

Why do we yawn? We are tired so we yawn?

The average duration of a yawn is about 6 seconds.

When we are bored or tired, we just don't breathe as deeply as we usually do. As this theory goes, our bodies take in less oxygen because our breathing has slowed. Therefore, yawning helps us bring more oxygen into the blood and move more carbon dioxide out of the blood.

Dr. Provine suggest that perhaps yawning is like stretching. Yawning and Stretching increase blood pressure and heart rate and also flex muscles and joins. Evidence show that if you try to stifle or prevent a yawn by clenching your jaws shut, the yawn is somewhat "unsatisfying". The stretching of jaw and face muscles is necessary for a good yawn.

I agreed with this as when i saw this article and see the image of yawning, I just cant stop yawning. And normally I dont yawn so many times in a day.

Yawning is possible to be contagious because of a leftover response (a "vestigal" response) that is not used anymore. But I felt it is contagious as when I saw someone yawn. I will yawn.

Does Queen bee sting? I dont know the answer so I have checked it out.

The worker bees are sterile females (they can't have babies) that work to feed the others. The worker bees only live 42-56 days and work themselves to death. The drones are fertile males that mate with the Queen. They only live about 50 days. The male bees do not sting, only the females and the Queen bee sting.

A bee will sting for two reasons: to protect its colony and when its frightened. That is why people get stung when they step or sit on bees. The bee who stung will die because the bees organs are torn out in the stinging process. However, a bee can sting other insects and not die because the skin on insects is not as thick as mammals.
