Durian, the king of fruits. One of my favourite fruit. There are durian pudding, cake, ice cream, etc. all I like.

There are different variety of durian. Peanut, red prawn, Mao Shan Wang, Golden Phoenix, D21. I only know D21.

Peanut earned its moniker from its curvy shape and tiny, peanut sized seeds. Freshly and creamy but has no complexity. Origin from Segamat. S$10-$12/kg, Peak season: June

Red Prawn, fruits segments are adorably rotund and reddish. Sweet, wet and mildly-flavoured. Origin from Muar. S$8-S$10/kg. Peak Season: June-July

Mao Shan Wang, I dont know whether I have tried before. But it is stated that it is the best of all, even better then D24. Honey hued with fat, glossy flesh that slids off its seed silily. Boasts a gooey, bitter-sweet and unmistakably buttery finish. Origin: Pahan. S$12-S$20/kg. Peak Season: June-Aug

Golden Phoenix, fruity aftertaset not unlinek bananas. Origin: Segamat. S$8-S$16/kg. Peak season: June -July

D24, meaty, oozy, and smooth with a heady bitterness akin to brandy. Origin: Pahang. S$8-S$12/kg. Peak season: June- Aug
